Lake Placid Pub and Brewery

Posted on: May 3rd, 2014 by Erin Weir No Comments

Everyone small town needs a local brewery, and for Lake Placid that is Lake Placid Pub and Brewery.  Housed in a former church, this pub has lots of great atmosphere to go along with its fantastic microbrews.

This is a great family friendly restaurant/brewery, with a very friendly atmosphere.  The third flood even has a play room for kids!

There is no guile in this menu.  Traditional pub grub is what you get, with a few unique creations thrown in.  However, everything is fresh, seasonal, and delicious! It also strongly features local ingredients and products from all over New York State.  For appetizers you’ll find bar food stables like nachos, buffalo wings, and pretzels, along with some more original bites like fried pickles and buffalo shrimp, and a New York cheese platter.

They have a great selection of flat bread pizzas, which range from traditional to adventurous.  Try andouille sausage, pesto chicken, or the pear and maple, which features pear slices, New York Maple Cheddar Cheese, and dried cherries, and is topped with organic mixed greens, walnuts, and a maple vinaigrette.  Try one of their great burgers or braised ribs with house made bbq sauce, made with local maple syrup and the Ubu Ale.

While the food is delicious, the main feature is their beer! Their flagship beer is the Ubu Ale,an English Strong Ale, and it’s used in several of their foods.  With a minimum of 8 beers on tap, a sampler is highly recommended!  The brewery has a score of 89 on Beer Advocate, making it well worth a visit.

If you’re at all interested in trying local beers, and great food created with local produce, Lake Placid Pub and Brewery is the perfect place to go! With a relaxed, charming atmosphere, tasty pub grub, and delicious beer, you can’t go wrong.

If you’re searching for a unique, organic casual fine dining experience in the Lake Placid area, then the Paradox Lodge is a great place to try!  It provides a personal, intimate, and comfortable dining experience while serving that is exceptionally delicious yet not overly pretentious.

This home turned restaurant is run by a husband and wife duo who run the kitchen and the dining room.   The menu is kept fresh and unique and every meal is lovingly prepared by the chef/owner, Moe. He is dedicated to using fresh, high quality ingredients to create delicious meals for his guests.

The menu features appetizers like wild boar sausage with sauteed onions and mushrooms, in chutney and port wine, and grilled foie gras with fresh fruit and balsamic vinegar.   Entrees are equally original.   Elk loin encrusted with herbs and served with a lingonberry and caramelized onion sauce, amazing seafood selections like lobster, shrimp and scallops with onions and mushrooms over pasta, and perfectly executed filet mignon au poivre with peppercorns and cream.  If you still have room for desert, Nan’s Crisps will really hit the spot!

While the food is spectacular, it isn’t the only reason to go! The service is stellar, and the owner/head waitress, Nan, is warm and welcoming, and is an excellent guide to help you navigate the menu and wine list.  The atmosphere of the restaurant is equally as inviting and cozy.  The dining room is cozy and comfortable, and the open kitchen allows you to watch Moe at work as he prepares your meal! The dining room is small and advance reservations are highly recommended.

The Paradox Lodge is an unmissable experience in Lake Placid.  With an inviting atmosphere, impeccable food, and inviting atmosphere, your only complaint will be that you ate too much!
