Lake Placid in Review

Lake Placid has a long history with winter sports, having twice hosted the Winter Olympics and continuing to have world class training facilities.  However, as it’s 3,000 year round residents know, it has so much more to offer.   For someone who enjoys rigorous exercise there is no end to the activities that they can experience in Lake Placid.  From hiking one of the 46 high peaks, to boating on one of the beautiful lakes, to cycling up Whiteface Mountain, there is something here for every athlete.

Relax and Unwind

For those who prefer a more relaxed vacation, Lake Placid is the perfect mountain getaway.  It’s serene lakeside location will allow you to relax and forget your worries as you chill on the beach or enjoy a massage at the Mirror Lake Inn Spa.

The village offers the perfect mixture of Adirondack flavor and charm that you will love as you stroll through the streets and view the local galleries.

Take in the Sites

If you’re looking for a family friendly vacation there are plenty of things to do in Lake Placid! Visit all the Olympic sites with an Olympic Sites Passport, and see the Miracle on Ice arena! Take a ride on a bobsled, and ride up the gondola for a great view from Whiteface Mountain.

Visit some local historical sites like Fort Ticonderoga and the John Brown Historical Site.

Of course the best way to see the Adirondacks is on one of our scenic flights, which will take you over the Olympic sites and other local famous areas.

Lake Placid is also home to some of the best food in the Adirondacks.  Not only does it have some exceptional fine dining restaurants, it has some more homey feeling restaurants with food to rival any haute cuisine.

Lake Placid may be well known for winter sports but that doesn’t mean you have to be a sports enthusiast to visit.  There really is something here for anyone looking to escape city life for an extended stay or even just a weekend.
