If you’re looking for a place to grab dinner, or even just a drink in Lake Placid then Liquids and Solids at The Handlebar is the place to go! Not unlike a tapas restaurant, Liquids and Solids offers an almost endless selection of appetizers that are perfect for sharing with a group of friends as a light meal, or just as a snack with drinks. Fried brussel sprouts, rabbit meatballs, scallop salsa, and curry cauliflower gravy poutine are just some of the delicious things you might get to try at this delicious restaurant! The local cheese and fresh bread plate is always a must.

Along with their amazing list of appetizers, they also offer a phenomenal list of entrees and desserts.  The menu is seasonal, and items are put on the menu as they are made available locally.  Some past favorites include pumpkin ravioli, duck breast, melt in your mouth polenta, salisbury steak, shrimp grits with spinach, kale, and romesco, and homemade cavatelli.  You may even find more adventurous dishes like corned tongue!

All that, of course, only covers the “solids” portion of their name! Liquids and Solids has an extensive list of libations.  The beer list list of draught and bottled beers is quite vast an covers the obscure and delicious.  Any beer lover would consider it heaven!  The house cocktails list is extensive.  Enjoy traditional cocktails or try one of the unique house cocktails like the “lavandula” made with gin, raspberry puree, lemon juice and lavender syrup!

Liquids and Solids is a local favorite, and is definitely the kind of place that is commonly busy, even on a week night! It’s the perfect place to cozy up by the wood stove and enjoy a drink, or to stop and enjoy a leisurely (and delicious!) meal with friends while you’re in Lake Placid.
