About Adirondack Flying Service

Based at the Lake Placid Airport- 3 generations of pilots flew the skies to get us to where we are today.

Adirondack Flying Service has served the aviation community of Upstate NY since 1974. We provide charter flights, aircraft maintenance, travel and transportation logistics, flight instruction, aircraft rentals and airport management for the Lake Placid Airport. Located 1 mile to the west of the historic Olympic Village- with views of Whiteface and the High Peaks to the south- the airport provides a perfect starting point for any Adirondack adventure.

Owner and Chief Pilot Stephen Short has over 37,000 hours of flight experience and a flawless safety record. Our clients return due to our diligence in serving their travel needs in a safe and efficient manner. Our two twin engine Cessna aircraft are perfect for parties of up to 7 with club style seating. In today’s world- professionalism, comfort, cleanliness and safety are our top priorities.

Centrally Located

The Village of Lake Placid is 1.3 miles from the airport and is a very enjoyable walk (weather permitting) or short ride away. It's known as the 1980 Winter Olympics venue and a hub for snow sports and other outdoor pursuits like hiking, canoeing or waterskiing.

Our private charter services are convenient and reliable. Each plane is dedicated to your party, and our team goes above and beyond to employ practices to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers. When it comes to traveling with COVID-19 considerations, you will be traveling with your own party in a sanitized aircraft, separated from the crew by a partition- not with up to hundreds of other people packed into an airliner. Our offerings to and from major metropolitan areas are more efficient than flying with an airline. We can often beat a jet to and from two points... ask us why! Our operation has over 80,000 flight hours with a perfect safety record. Costs are far less than any jet aircraft charter. We also service over 7,000 airports nationwide on your schedule, not the airline’s.
